"To the Dunes: Photos and Stories"
by The State Park Hiking Group
Tuesday, August 6
starting at 11 a.m.

Sponsored by Sharon Kelly and Janie & Jim Flemming

The August 6 Tuesday Talk at the Saugatuck- Douglas Historical Society will feature a State Park Hiking Group, which is made up of area residents, discussing "To the Dunes: Photos and Stories". The event is free and open to the public and will take place at 11 a.m. in the History Center at the Old Schoolhouse, 130 Center Street in Douglas. It will last one hour and include a question and answer session.

The hiking group will discuss what draws hikers every day to the trails at the Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The beauty of the natural dunelands will be presented through images captured year 'round by local photographers. Audience members will discover the unexpected and unexplained surprises along the trails: the health benefits, the social aspects, the ever-changing landscape and the art of nature. Stories about the up-and-down adventures of hiking the sand dunes with smiles and shoes full of sand will be told.

The talk is sponsored by SDHS President Sharon Kelly and members Janie and Jim Flemming.

Currently, the changing exhibit in the History Center at the Old School House features some of the photos taken by members of the State Park Hiking Group. Other area artists are featured as well.

The talk is free and the public is invited, but seating is limited so early arrival is recommended.

See you on Tuesday at the Old School House when the bell rings at 11 AM.
