History Lives Here Text

A listing ofstrawberries planted in the growing season of 1901 by Joseph W Prentice at hisfarm a mile and a half south of Douglas.Although we have no way of knowing howlong each row was, it would appear that the 69 rows on this list might be morethan enough for family consumption, leaving same to sell. The Prentice familymoved to Douglas in 1919 and Joe was managerof the Saugatuck Fruit Exchange 1921 to 1953. Their home was directly south ofthe new village hall.
