The Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society was founded in 1986 by a group of charter members interested in preserving and sharing the unique histories of Saugatuck, Douglas and the surrounding area. In 2016, the Society was renamed the Saugatuck-Douglas History Center to celebrate its growth and to recognize the development of the History Museum and Old School House sites. We are a vibrant organization with nearly 700 members residing in nearby communities, around Lake Michigan, and in 26 states across the country.
Membership in the History Center includes a subscription to the monthly full-color e-Newsletter, free admission to our popular programming series, a biennial membership directory, access to the History Center's collection and archives, and invitations to special member-only previews and events.
Lifetime membership is a great way to show your lasting commitment to preserve local history. Being a Lifetime Member means no annual renewal fee, and special invitations to Lifetime Member-only special events. Consider joining at the Lifetime level when you start or renew your membership.
