Tuesday Talk at the Saugatuck- Douglas Historical Society will
feature a State Park Hiking Group, which is made up of area
residents, discussing "To the Dunes: Photos and Stories". The
event is free and open to the public and will take place at 11
a.m. in the History Center at the Old Schoolhouse, 130 Center
Street in Douglas. It will last one hour and include a
question and answer session.
The hiking group
will discuss what draws hikers every day to the trails at the
Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The beauty of the natural
dunelands will be presented through images captured year
'round by local photographers. Audience members will discover
the unexpected and unexplained surprises along the trails: the
health benefits, the social aspects, the ever-changing
landscape and the art of nature. Stories about the up-and-down
adventures of hiking the sand dunes with smiles and shoes full
of sand will be told.
The talk is
sponsored by SDHS President Sharon Kelly and members Janie and
changing exhibit in the History Center at the Old School House
features some of the photos taken by members of the State Park
Hiking Group. Other area artists are featured as well.
The talk is free
and the public is invited, but seating is limited so early
arrival is recommended.
